RegeneVive Co-Founders Dr. Anand Srivastava and Deven Patel recently spoke with Dr. Amy Killen about the company’s ongoing research efforts related to coronavirus (COVID-19). Dr. Anand explains in great detail the mechanisms underlying the disease, including cytokine storms and the potential immunomodulatory benefits of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs). Additionally, he provides an overview of ongoing investigations in this arena, including a recent study by an international research team published in Aging and Disease Coronavirus (COVID-19) is truly an unprecedented pandemic that has wrought incredible damage to populations worldwide. Healthcare providers are scrambling to contain the impact of this deadly disease, exploring all potential remedies while scientists work to develop an effective vaccine.
Earlier this year, RegeneVive received approval to treat patients suffering from COVID-19. Patients will be treated using stem cells, under the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) expanded access (or “compassionate use”) program. RegeneVive is currently in the process of evaluating stem cell therapy for a small number of patients, and is seeking approval for a broader clinical trial. This practice aligns with the company’s emphasis on working with regulatory agencies and adhering to the policies and procedures of each country in which they operate.
